Flipping Houses
Financing is difficult for new home builds in Edmonton. We have found it easier buying old run down houses in down town Edmonton and making them beutiful to resell for profit. We do everything to the old home to make it new, from ABS plumbing to R40 insulation, but we generally only do electrical upgrades for others. We find electrical upgrades such as pot lights, decora switches and plugs, get up to ten times their cost back on the sale of the home. Electrical service upgrades dont get the same huge return but they do prevent deals from falling through which we see all the time, because banks won't finance older homes with 60 amp services.

Edmonton Service Changes
At Possum Electric, service changes are done quickly, to the best possible quality, and for the best possible price in Edmonton. You hire the company as an electrical contractor, you speak to the master electrician that pulls your permit and does the work at your house. There are too many companies in Edmonton saying they will do a service change, then asking you to pull a home owners permit, or worse, pulling the permit themselves and sending some uneducated, unsupervised laborer out to install a new service for you. I have seen these service changes go horribly wrong, even in new construction services. With insufficient grounding, incorrect wire and conduit sizing, its all bad. There is never an unsupervised apprentice, nor laborer doing service changes for Possum Electric.
How do we provide the best possible quality service changes? We have all the equiptment. We have our own trencher for underground services. We have a ground rod driver for driving ground rods in frozen Edmonton soil. We also show up with a fully stocked van and trailer, with all the parts we could possibly need. So we are never "making do" with lesser suitable parts.
How do we give you the best possible price in Edmonton for service changes? We don't run brand new equipment with hefty payments We don't have a commercial building in Edmonton, but rather a small shop to keep supplies and equipment, east of Edmonton, where real estate is much less expensive. We don't have employees we need to keep busy cleaning the shop wile things are slow.
Finally we do service changes quickly, because we show up with all the supplies we need, and we know what we are doing.

Lutron RadioRA2 Licenced Distributor
As we continue to grow, we strive to keep up with the newest and best technology on the market. My latest favorite is the Lutron RadioRA2 system. We have now completed the Lutron lighting programing and installation course. The first house is scheduled to get a Lutron switching make over in April.
What is Lutron? Lutron was the original inventor of the dimmer in 1959. Today they still make dimmers, but hold over 200 additional current patents for house hold and commercial controls.
The latest technology is the Lutron RadioRA2 system. The RadioRA2 system is designed as a total home system, for up to 8000 square feet. It can be fitted to new construction or retro fitted to an old building. Lights can be controlled in a number of different ways with the RadioRA2. Not only can you have a single button by your bed to turn all lights in the house off, but LED's can show you what lights were still on.
Not home? You can turn all your lights off from your Ipad, Iphone or car. In fact you can have access to all your light switches from your Iphone. From your Iphone you can even set timers to turn things on or off automatically.
There is a garage door opener style remote for your car, 3 button, 7 function. The programing options are unlimited, an example would be one button for "all lights off", "garage lights", and maybe a "pathway" button to turn on lights to the kitchen or to your most visited location when you arrive home.
The system can incorporate the house thermostat, occupancy sensors, infrared remote controls like universal TV remotes, and you can put small remote Lutron switches anywhere as extra three way switches or dimmers, without electrical boxes, wire or cutting holes. They fit flush inside a standard decora face plate, or on a table top, smaller than your remote starter FOB.
Lutron integrates flawlessly with: AMX, Control4, Creston Electronics, ELAN, HAI, HomeLogic, Lifeware, Netstreams, Philips, RTI, Savant, Universal Electronics, and Universal Remote Control. So you are not limited to any one company, however Lutron is leading the technology race.
Lutron also incorporates window shade controls in their systems. They are leading in this industry, they are the only ones on the market today that can provide blinds of different lengths (different roller diameters) that are geared to move at the same speeds as each other. There is a fine example of the shade control programing in this video here.

Andrew Jail House
The old Jail in Andrew, hasn't incarcerated anyone for a a few decades from what I understand. It has suffered years of neglect as a single family dwelling. The new owner is doing a great job fixing it up, really improving that street. Andrew is one of the few northern towns using the Calgary based Permit Pro. Permit Pro has been an absolute dream to deal with once my account was set up. Everybody tells me they don't want to get a permit because they will have to wait for an inspector before they can drywall. In the country Inspections Group typically get out once or twice a week, wile Permit Pro can only get North of Edmonton about once a month. Once a month obviously isn't acceptable, so Permit Pro will accept Videos to pass the rough in. This is a video for Permit Pro, the North side of the duplex in Andrew. This side used to be the jail, wile the other side, now drywalled, used to be living quarters for the police, wile they stayed in Andrew.

We've Moved
We still service Andrew, and Lamont County, but we have moved to Edmonton. We are, so far, keeping the shop in Andrew, for vehicle and equipment servicing, which means we will be out there all the time and accept service calls out there anytime.
